The Baker Street Victorian Carollers are a group of strolling carollers that do so in the Victorian style. They take their name (if you haven't already figured it out) from the address of one very famous fictional investigator - Sherlock Holmes.
The group is based in the Hamilton (and Burlington) area of Ontario. The singers are veterans of musical theatre and opera stage with over 125 years of combined performing experience. They blend their harmonies to produce memories of Christmas past.
They have recently released their very own CD entitled "Our Christmas". It is a collection of classics done to their fine harmonies. Although to me it's still quite a while until Christmas and there are no decorations to be seen at our house, it has been a delight listening to their CD for the past few days for this review. It truly does as they say....produce memories of Christmas past.
My favourite songs on the CD are "O Come All Ye Faithful", "Joy to the World" and "Jolly Old St. Nicholas", and I was quite taken by the irreverent "The Stingiest Man in Town". This is a very nice collection of old classics. It would be perfect to play while making sugar cookies or sipping egg nog by the fire.
