Let the picnic season officially begin! (we at Steampunk Ottawa refuse to believe winter will last forever.)
Please bring food for yourself and some to share. Please also know your ingredients as some people will have food sensitivities, allergies, etc.
Each person or group is responsible for their own plates, bowls, cups, utensils, napkins, etc. Please think environmentally and like a 19th century picnicker... avoid paper plates, plastic cups, utensils, etc. Cloth ground 'sheets' and napkins are best if you have them. Everyone should also bring a garbage bag and take your garbage with you when you leave. Thank you :-)
Bring your lawn games, your cameras, kites, children and good humour. Also, a chair if you like.
Some of our members will organize activities (parasol duelling, dart gun duelling, tea duelling, crocket, lawn darts, lawn bowling, board games, card games, etc.). Victor will be hosting a soft dart pistol tournament.
Bring your musical instruments (accoustic only) and singing voices to entertain your fellow members with your talents.
As always, costumes are encouraged and welcomed and not required at all. We would love to see you whether you are new to Steampunk, Steampunk curious or a regular picnic attendee.
The parking loop is on the East end of the island - road access is only from Booth Street on the West end of the Island. There is a parking lot on Middle Street just west of our picnic site (check signage).
By bus, the Lebreton Transitway stop is now located at Albert and Preston (a bit of a hike), or the Booth/Vimy stop near the War Museum is much closer.
Bikeways and SRPs all pass through Victoria Island.
Weather! This is usually a rain or shine event. Bring sunscreen, hats and parasols for protection from the sun. Bring umbrellas in case of rain.
And we have trees to shelter under. Be prepared!
