Question from Adam Smith:

Who would you like to see?! It only took me moments to become a fan of Professor Elemental and Emperor Norton's Stationary Marching Band at the Steampunk Worlds Fair, and Psyche Corporation will be at Fan Expo Canada in a couple of weeks...

Any thoughts as to local performers? Vampire Beach Babes? Elliot Brood? Heather Dale?

I've just become a fan of Buck 65's "Rebel" Youtube

Ideas, suggestions, favourites??

Umm... Has anyone looked at Heather Dale's website? She doesn't classify herself as anything remotely Steampunk, more of a Celtic/Artherian/Medieval fusion, with some Middle Eastern rhythms.

Couple of suggestions for musical entertainment:

If anyone plays an instrument as a hobby (I play flute, for example), it may be possible to find scores and put together some chamber ensembles (usually 3-6 people). These were highly popular at Victorian and Edwardian parties.

The other thing we could look into are barber shop quartets, they were also popular during the Victorian era. There is a quartet located in the GTA known as the Upper Canada Chordsmen

If you are looking for "period" music I would talk to my friends at Odd Socks:

While they are known for Lindy hop, they also do 19th century dances.  Plus they also book live music for their dances so they will know who all the players are, so to speak.

Then there is Victorian dance hall - for that you will have to head to the Burlesque Scene. Some years ago I was a member of the Toronto Burlesque and Vaudevile Alliance (as a historian mainly)  so I am not up on our "early school" groups. But they would know where to find the bands.   I say look to Montreal or Vancouver - Toronto is mainly Rockabilly.

But if you need a 19th illusionist I would look up Mysterion the mind reader.  He's as manic as I am but he can give you what you need:
