Again surfing through the current news on the BBC, I found an interesting article on Charles Darwin, Joseph Hooker (a friend of Darwin), and the Royal Navy.

Apparently, plants from Europe, Argentina and South Africa were introduced to Ascension Isle (basically an old volcano) to help produce and retain drinkable water. One scientist is hoping this isle, and its' history, will help to colonize Mars.

Where past and present collide, we have opportunity and imagination.
