Canada now has a large number of local groups that hold or attend events on a regular basis. We also have a number of larger regular events that are happening yearly ie. Steam on Queen. But this is the only event where a WHOLE TOWN is involved...
This is the 4th year that the Festival has taken place in Coldwater, Ontario. It runs from August 8 to August 10, 2014.
The main street of Coldwater and the Coldwater Canadiana Museum will feature fifty vendors, reptile shows, falconry, horse drawn wagon rides, sand art, weaponry, costume contests, art exhibits, musicians, buskers, jousting knights, mad scientists, whimsical inventors, dancers, musicians, artisans, crafting, puppetry, children's activities and events! Phew.... If I was talking instead of writing, I'd have run out of air and passed out by now. Talk about lots to do!
Their opening reception is on Friday, August 8th at 5:00 pm. On Sunday, August 10th, at noon there is a Steampunk Social at the SSKeewatin.
SSKeewatin, built in 1907
Costumes are highly encouraged and people of all ages have a great time attending in their most creative steampunk attire...
There are a huge number of special guests as well including author Karen Lowachee - The Gaslight Dogs, Russell Zeid - the mad scientist of the Ontario Science Centre, and Adam Smith, prop maker and costumer of feature films and television.
Be sure to check out their website for all the incredible people, exhibits and fun to be found.
